Steven Walker's Tips for Painting Winter Landscapes
Artists Classroom instructor, Steven Walker, takes particular pleasure in capturing the beauty of the winter landscape. To bring out the best in a painting of this season, the artist offers the following insights:
1. There's more to winter than white. 2. Use complements to bring more interest to a scene that's dull in color. 3. To create trees with a more natural appearance, rather than simply drawing branches, use your brush to pull the existing paint out of the trunk to form the limbs. 4. Keep in mind that the values of snow can be vast. 5. If you're painting outdoors, be sure to bundle up!
Sign up for the next Artists Classroom event, Head in the Clouds,October 28th at 2 pm ET. Follow along as he paints, ask questions, and interact with other artists!
